about

This song was like a new chapter for me. I looked back on all the songs I'd written for ex boyfriends and realised how often I wrote songs instead of speaking out loud about my feelings. I thought maybe going forward would be more careful about who I gave my heart and my lyrics to, but in reality we never really change our habits!

This record was really special to me. I worked on it with Greg Haver and the students of the Gus Dudgeon Foundation. We spent 4 days in the studio perfecting the track and it was a lesson in professional recording that I'll hold with me forever.

lyrics

They said it would rain today, but the sun shone
You said that you'd stay today, but you're long gone.
I said that I'd hold your hand, but I let go,
We say a lot of things when we don't know

That times, they change
And faces age.

Uh oh love is a strong word,
Where all the lines blurred,
I'll try to write you a song first.
Uh oh love is a strong word,
Love from your little Songbird,
Your little Songbird

They said it would rain today, and we're soaked through
Running for shelter in my new shoes.
Looking for comfort on a bad day,
Three words can make it ok.

When times, they change,
Places always seem to stay the same.

Uh oh love is a strong word,
Where all the lines blurred,
I'll try to write you a song first.
Uh oh love is a strong word,
Love from your little Songbird,
Your little Songbird

I wasn't brave enough to tell you how I feel.
I wrote it all down once and pretended it was real.
Just because you can see right through me when I sing.
I'm just a book of words and six strings.

Uh oh love is a strong word,
Where all the lines blurred,
I'll try to write you a song first.
Uh oh love is a strong word,
Love from your little Songbird,
Your little Songbird.
