"But...you can't do busking as a JOB!"...
"Why don't you just go on the X Factor if you want to be a singer?"...
"I don't think you should be going to strangers houses and singing for them... you can't trust strangers".
Ok. Some valid points there. But in so many instances my response is 'Why?' or, more frequently, 'Why not?'
When I first recorded this is was just vocal and guitar, but there was something too easy about that. I decided to do something slightly wacky with the production because I don't gotta play by nobody's rules!!
lyrics
I'll buy a blue camper van and travel all around the world
I'll buy a map and make plan
I'll save up all that I can earn and I will run away from here
Think off the lessons I will learn
Do I have to play by the rules?
Do I have to listen to you?
Do I have anything left to lose?
Do I have to play by the rules?
I'll kick my shoes off at the door and I'll walk barefoot down the street
I don't need them anymore
I always thought I would know which direction I should go
But now my life is moving way too slow
Do I have to play by the rules?
Do I have to listen to you?
Do I have anything left to lose?
Do I have to play by the rules?
My little voice says I have a choice
My little voice says I have a choice
My little voice says I have a choice
My little voice, my little voice is says
Do I have to play by the rules?
Do I have to listen to you?
Do I have anything left to lose?
Do I have to play by the rules?
