I didn't want to write an ugly song but I wanted to write a song about the pain of being cheated on, even if its just psychological betrayal.
I also wanted to write about how inadequate girls can feel growing up in such an image-conscious age. I have always been astounded by the strength of women today who continue to be self confident when they are constantly comparing themselves and being compared to other women based on their appearance.
lyrics
If she's an angel what am I?
If she's an angel what am I supposed to be?
If she's an angel what am I, how can I match her light?
If she's an angel what am I?
She looks pretty where'd you find her?
I see you laughing at every word she says
She's got a halo right behind her
I see you looking even when she's turned away
(when she's turned away)
I'm biting my tongue this time
I'm not wasting one more breath on you
If she's an angel what am I?
If she's an angel what am I supposed to be?
If she's an angel what am I, how can I match her light?
If she's an angel what am I?
She looks pretty with her hair down
When she's calling you pretend that you don't hear
Who can hide away from that sound?
I know you see her even when you close your eyes
(when you close your eyes)
I won't wait 'til you change your mind
Its too late now, you're out of time
If she's an angel what am I?
If she's an angel what am I supposed to be?
If she's an angel what am I, how can I match her light?
If she's an angel what am I?
I'll pack my wings and halo
If you ask me to stay I'll say no!
Because I will be somebody else's angel
I'll be somebody else's angel
I'll be somebody else's angel
I'll be somebody else's angel
If she's an angel what am I?
If she's an angel what am I supposed to be?
If she's an angel what am I, how can I match her light?
If she's an angel what am I?
Oh
If she's an angel what am I?
If she's an angel what am I supposed to be?
If she's an angel what am I, how can I match her light?
If she's an angel what am I?
